The link between your gut and brain…

I’m sure you have all heard by now about the link between your gut and brain?

Did you know that the neurons in your gut are so similar to the ones in your brain that the gut is often called the second brain??

That’s why when people become stressed their digestion is the first thing to go

Chinese Medicine has been treating the gut for psychological issues for thousands of years. In Chinese Medicine instead of a gut-brain connection we talk about a Heart-Stomach connection.

In TCM, the Heart is the King of all organs. It promotes blood circulation and invigorates the Heart Shen (or spirit). When the Shen is disturbed a person will show symptoms of heart palpitations, anxiety and insomnia.

The Stomach is the child of the Heart. So if the Stomach is functioning well and happy the Heart functions well. If the Heart is nourished then the Stomach is nourished and both may flourish (lil bit of rhyming)

If the Heart Shen (the spirit) is disturbed the Stomach will be disturbed and cause digestive issues such as bloating, diarrhoea, constipation and pain.

Are your Heart and Stomach happy?? If one is out of whack chances are the other one is.
