Jo Hearn

Yoga Instructor

With a history of yoga practice going back almost 2 decades, Jo has a deep understanding and personal experience of the benefits of yoga. What started as a way to address work/life imbalance and high stress levels, soon became a vital part of her self-care and recovery from debilitating pain associated with endometriosis, and mental health challenges. Jo initially trained as a Hatha yoga teacher in 2018 and has since broadened her skillset to include Yin Yoga, Trauma-Informed Yoga and Meditation. Her lived experience of the transformative power of a regular yoga practice, and understanding of the body, mind, spirit connection, has led to her dedication and passion for making yoga accessible to every body, regardless of age, gender, state of health or body-type. “No matter what shape my body (or mind) is in, I always try to find a way to practice!”

She is a qualified school teacher and for the last 22 years has been self-employed alongside her husband Don, as a winemaker and cattle farmer on their certified organic farm, Restdown, at Caldwell NSW.

Which Yoga is Which?

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is designed to work the deeper layers of the body to increase flexibility and mobility in the body, particularly the hips and shoulders. Poses are held for 2-7 minutes each to allow us to work into the connective tissues and fascia around our musculature. Finding stillness in the body will allow time for introspection, relaxation and stress relief, increase the flexibility and mobility throughout your body.

Add an extra element to your existing fitness, sports and activities that will improve your range of motion and decrease your chances of injury.

These classes are also fantastic for the mind and give you the chance to strengthen your ability to stay focused and to reap the benefits of a meditative practice.

Suitable for all levels.

Gentle yoga

Gentle yoga is a slow paced hatha yoga class that provides a safe, effective way to strengthen, stretch and balance the body in a non-competitive environment. Suitable for all levels. In this class we will strengthen and stretch the whole body and finish with a calming meditation. There are minimal transitions from floor to standing and less time spent on knees and wrists in the Gentle Classes but both classes are formulated to be as joint friendly as possible whilst building strong, flexible bodies.

General Yoga

Classical hatha yoga is a combination between movement, breath (pranayama) and relaxation. Classes will include stretching, strengthening and balancing your body through a sequence of poses. Classes are better suited to those with some yoga experience.
