Framingham Risk Survey on Yoga
A 2016 research study on yoga used a special examination tool/questionnaire called a “Framingham Risk Survey”. The researchers got people with cardiovascular disease- so high cholesterol, high blood pressure, previous heart attack or stroke; and got them to participate in yoga for 2 weeks (10 sessions), including breathing exercises (pranayama), yoga postures(asanas), meditation and relaxation, nutrition awareness and individual support.
The researchers then took measurements of blood pressure, cholesterol levels and their types.
The results were a significant improvement in all tests (particularly cholesterol) with a decreased risk of further heart attacks or strokes. Find the link below to the full article.
